| The High Cost of Energy in Today's World |
 |
The United States uses nearly a million dollars worth of energy each minute, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. U.S. annual energy consumption is projected to increase by 37% (34 quadrillion Btu). One QBtu equals the amount of annual energy output of 40 1,000MW power plants. |
| Our Appetite for More Energy Will Only Continue to Escalate |
| • |
Energy reserves are being consumed at an alarming rate
|
| • |
The cost of energy will continue to increase
|
| • |
Higher energy prices will reduce your competitive edge
|
| • |
Carbon dioxide emissions will increase 50% to 60% along with other pollutants
|

And it Effects More than Just Our Bottom Line
The United States has less oil reserves but does have an abundance of coal to fire its generation plants. Coal burns less clean than gas or oil, consequently adding more pollutants such as carbon dioxide and sulphur to the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is believed to cause the greenhouse gasses that are responsible for the highly controversial global warming. From a health perspective, approximately 30,000 lives are believed to be cut short in the U.S. each year due to pollution from electricity production. |
